One of 692 aircraft built by Avro Canada, this is an example of the Mark 5D version. 100493 began service as RCAF 18493 in Jun 1955. It was originally a Mark 4B example. Conversion to Mark 5D came later, possibly before delivery. The aircraft saw service with the Electronic Warfare Unit, RCAF Stn St Hubert, QC, and then 414 Sqn, RCAF Station Uplands, ON.
Renumbered 100493 in 1970, after Armed Forces Integration. Transferred to 414 Sqn, CFB North Bay ON, where it served in EW capacity until struck off strength 1 October, 1980.
The aircraft was then transferred to CFB Borden as an instructional airframe, before preservation and display.
