"Willa Park has a prehistoric promontory hill fort. Beside it, Lye Rock was the scene of the 1893 Iota ship-wreck. Cantanese Domenico, a boy of fourteen, lost his life, as did two other members of the Italian crew. The nine survivors were rescued by brave locals led by Mr Charles Hambly. Mr Hambly took part in several rescues and was awarded medals for his bravery and skill. Cantanese and Charles are buried close together in St Materiana's churchyard."
