The station was built in 1884 & is now closed. It has been restored but as yet not put to another purpose. Two large coal mines have opened on the outskirts of Clermont but the trains head to the east & are electrified.

An article (visit link) published by the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) on 2 July 2014 states the Clermont station is being renovated to house start-up businesses and community groups in a not-for-profit move to encourage growth in the town.
