Older photos of the gravesite show that it was once protected by a metal pipe fence. Unfortunately, that is no longer here, and the headstone has been broken. It is a white, marble headstone, featuring clasped hands below "Farewell", with this inscription:

Thomas Tracy

Killed
By Train on T. & P.
Railway

March 28, 1889
Rest in Peace

The best we can glean is that Mr. Tracy was a section foreman for the T & P Railroad, and when last seen, he was headed for Edgewood from Wills Point, possibly intoxicated. As the section house in Edgewood was near the site where they found his body, one can speculate that something happened either when he tried to disembark, or that he was hit while walking back to the section house. Regardless, for whatever reason, he was buried right next to the tracks. A May 30, 1985 edition of The Edgewood Enterprise has some background, as well as a photo of an earlier headstone, broken.
