This station is a U.S Department of the Interior (USGS) standard disk, located in West Ocean City, MD. It is set in the sidewalk at the east end of the south side of the Herring Creek bridge, on the eastbound lanes side of U.S. Rt.50:
DESCRIBED BY MARYLAND DOT HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION 1991 THE MARK IS LOCATED ABOUT 4.97 MI (8.00 KM) EAST OF BERLIN, 2.34 MI (3.77 KM) WEST OF OCEAN CITY AND ON ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY. TO REACH FROM THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. HIGHWAYS 50 AND 113 NEAR BERLIN, GO EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 50 FOR 4.78 MI (7.69 KM) TO THE HERRING CREEK BRIDGE AND THE MARK ON THE RIGHT. IT IS 44.6 FT (13.6 M) EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE CHANNEL, 22.8 FT (6.9 M) NORTH OF TELEPHONE POLE NUMBER 238, 21.4 FT (6.5 M) NORTH OF A BULKHEAD, 21.2 FT (6.5 M) SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE EASTBOUND LANES OF THE HIGHWAY AND SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE BRIDGE.
The description is adequate, and the mark is clearly visible from the roadway. Note that stopping on the side of the roadway might be hazardous, and is not advisable. I had success parking at the medical clinic parking lot just east of the bridge, and walked out to the mark.
