Picture Lake is in a very stunning location. At an elevation of about 4,100 feet it is surrounded by peaks rising up to the 9,130 feet level of Mt Shuksan. This impressive glacier-clad peak with steep rock walls is reflected in the waters of Picture Lake.
This scenic lake is very accessible by car and the National Forest Service has built a universally accessible path that goes three-quarters around the water body providing great opportunities to take in the surroundings.
The lake is to be left in its nature state and due to the fragility of the nature at this elevation there is no boating nor swimming allowed. And walking to the lake's edge is discouraged unless there is a existing path.
