[ENGLISH]"Fireguard, Karl Johans gate 11 in Oslo Cathedral, built in unrendered red brick in neo-romantic style in the years 1854 - 1856 in connection with the bazaars and architect for the entire plant is Christian H. Grosch. The tower was used to dry the water hoses.
After the Great Fire 14 April 1858, where the area with 40 farms and 1,000 residents between Prinsensgate, Karl Johans gate, Skippergata and Kongens gate burned down, it was speeded up to establish a better fire service. After the city's water supply was developed and tap water came later that year, moved the new fire corps of 35 men and one of the fire champion in the 1860s. Until 1902 had firemen's lookout point on a daily basis from the cathedral tower."
