The village sign, erected for the millennium, is situated on a small green area just outside St Andrew's church grounds. South Lopham and surrounding area is famous for the Redgrave and Lopham Fen which is one of the most important wetland sites in the UK. The fen is managed by the Suffolk WIldlife Trust, and is home to the endangered raft spider, which is depicted on this sign.
