There is no charge to visit The First Church of Christ, Scientist and this sculpture although there is a charge to visit the Mapparium exhibit which this piece is themed with.
The placard accompanying the sculpture informs us:
"the Fountain
cast glass/bronze
-an original work by internationally-acclaimed sculptor Howard Ben Tre in collaboration with media designer and 'word physics' expert David Small
-the Fountain displays 784 quotes and ideas related to 42 timeless themes such as 'freedom,' 'community' and 'truth'
-the flowing words are created using LCD projectors and motorized mirrors, controlled by a central computer system.
-the Fountain works in concert with the Hall of Ideas and the Mapparium to create a sense of connectedness and universality
-moving the fountain into the Hall of Ideas required a custom dolly on lubricated steel plates that then was slid through the doorways with only 1/4" to spare
-the green glass shapes around the perimeter were cast in the Czech Republic and shipped to Ben Tre's studio in Rhode Island where they were ground, by hand, to their final shape and finish
universality"
