Turns out this is strictly a cowboy hangout - possibly the farthest east western joint in Canada. The big steer horns and pink cowboy hat outside should have been a tip-off, though.
The Factory prides itself on being Prince Edward Island's only dedicated smokehouse, "
offering a selection of premium Island meat, smoked for hours and hours in our authentic smokers". They offer Hickory Smoked Chicken, Factory Ribs (Smoked baby back ribs), Pulled Pork, Briskets and steaks. One can't go wrong with any of the smoked offerings, they're scrumptious. They do offer non-smoked meals, too, such as Meatloaf, Shepherd's Pie, Massive Fish & Chips, Broccoli Chicken Mac & Cheese, Soft Crunch Taco Platter, a Bacon Wrapped Deep Fried Foot Long Hot Dog and even Poutine.
Through the day The
Factory Cookhouse & Dancehall is a restaurant and lounge, with tables covering the entire floor. In the evening, though, they metaphorically toss out the tables and the original old board floor becomes a dance hall for two-steppin', waltzin' and line-dancin'. They bring in live music, supplemented by DJs playing your favourites late into the night. Though Country is the main fare, they play a fair amount of classic rock, as well. All the place needs is sawdust on the floor!. If you're not a cowboy/cowgirl or a boomer this place prolly isn't for you.
On Kent Street at Prince Street on the edge of downtown Charlottetown, parking can be a bit of an issue here - you'll just have to try your luck.
