Just about 1,000 years a part of a mountain slid down the slope with house-sized boulders and debris. When the dust had settled Silver Creek was dammed and the waters started to back up creating Silver Lake.
In February 1964 the provincial government recognized the beauty of this location and created Silver Lake Provincial Park. It's a small park - only 77 hectares | 190 acres - with the focus on the namesake body of water.
There is a 25 site campground, a day use beside the lake, and fishing is popular with visitors.
Being only six kilometres | four miles from the Trans-Canada Highway it is actually a quiet park.
