A figure of a Civil War soldier holding his rifle on his proper right side stands atop a granite shaft. The center section of the shaft is polished granite bearing the names of local citizens who served in the Civil War. Around the base of the shaft are relief carvings depicting: crossed swords and a wreath; crossed cannon tampers and a wagon wheel; an anchor; and crossed rifles.

This sculpture is located almost dead center in the Uxbridge Town Common. It is flanked by other memorials. At one end is the World War I Memorial and the other end is a 21st century memorial to soldiers that fought in Afghanistan, Iraq and other US skirmishes.
