I found no information on J. Francis Appleby.

This dark grey granite slab type marker is located in the north part of the DeWitt Evergreen Cemetery. The slab marker has decorative ivy and flowers on the left and over the top portion of the marker. An old style steam train engine appears on the central portion. Since the gentleman was only 20 years old at his death - my guess is that J. Francis Appleby was a brakeman - a very dangerous profession on trains.

The rest of the inscription:

J. Francis Appleby
Born Jan. 27, 1887
Died Apr. 27, 1907

APPLEBY appears on the on white granite plinth.
