EN: Benedict Fontana (1450-1499) is considered one of the most popular heroes of Graubünden. He came from a noble family and was reeve of the bishop at the southern boundary of the Three Leagues. He died as a hero during the Swabian War at the battle of Calven against Austria in 1499.
The larger than life bronze monument shows Fontana in armor during the battle. It was created in 1903 by the sculptor Richard Kissling.
DE: Benedikt Fontana (1450-1499) gilt als einer der bekanntesten Volkshelden von Graubünden. Er stammte aus einer adligen Familie und war Vogt des Bischofs an der Südgrenze der Drei Bünde. Er starb im Schwabenkrieg in der Schlacht von Calven gegen Österreich 1499 den Heldentod.
Das überlebensgrosse Bronzedenkmal zeigt Fontana in Rüstung während der Schlacht. Es wurde 1903 vom Bildhauer Richard Kissling geschaffen.
