This life-sized bronze sculpture depicts the Bard as a middle-aged, balding man, standing and in 15th century dress. He holds a book in his left hand and his right hand is at his hip.
Wikipedia's article on Shakespeare Memorials (
visit link) informs us:
"...in 1896 a bronze statue of Shakespeare by Frederick William MacMonnies was erected as part of a series representing the world's geniuses in the gallery of the reading-room of the Library of Congress."
and the Smithsonian Inventory indicates that the work is 8 feet tall.
