Mesa Journal--Tribune FHA Demonstration Home, also known as the Charles A. Mitten Home, was the first house in the area constructed with FHA funds. Charles A. Mitten was the publisher of the Mesa Journal and built the house with FHA and personal funds to encourage the development of new housing in downtown Mesa. The house was originally located at 22 East First Ave. in Mesa and was relocated in 2002 to avoid demolition. It now houses a law firm.
