I was able to locate the history of this building from the City of Montague website and it reads:
Montague's Historic Preservation Committeee is working on a project to refurbish the old Bank Building. Built in 1906, it has also been Fire Hall, City Hall, Jail and Library. Renamed the Montague History Center, it is free to the public, schools and visitors. It houses books, puzzles, games and videos for exchange and also has a gift area with items to be sold for donation only to help pay expenses.
The public can browse through the files for local, county, state and US history and information, including obituaries from the surrounding small towns of Montague, Hilt, Henley, Hornbrook, Grenada, Gazelle, Big Springs and Happy Camp.
You can still see the jail bars on the windows. The current Fire Station is located next door to this building. In addition, there's a bell that hangs on a wooden frame that I'm assuming might have been the original fire bell to the former fire hall.
Current Use: History Center
Year Originally Built: 1906
Is it open to the public?: Yes
Location: Montague
Year Retired: Not listed
