text "Front of monument, raised lettering:) DEDICATED/MAY 30, 1893,/TO THE MEMORY/OF THOSE WHO FOUGHT/FOR THE PRESERVATION/OF THE UNION./1861--1865/COMRADES (Rear of monument, raised lettering:) F.C. & L (One side of monument, raised lettering:) W.R.C. (Other side of monument, raised lettering:) G.A.R. unsigned...A standing figure of a uniformed Civil War soldier is mounted atop a square column with a peaked cornice. The soldier has a moustache and goatee and wears a cap, with a short cape pushed back over his coat. He holds the barrel of his rifle with both hands at chest level, the stock resting by his proper right foot. The bottom section of the monument is multitiered."
