Marker denotes the history of Gooseville.
The marker reads:
GOOSEVILLE
John Phoenix settled here in 1835. Three Phoenix families lived on three of the four corners. There was a flourishing saw mill, a Presbyterian Church, and at the turn of the century a cheese factory was operating. The 'goose-neck' in the road shows where the surveyors of West and East Mono met at Hurontario Street.
