Roma is a major service centre for vast oil & gas wells as well as cattle & cereal farms. The railway station opened on 16 September 1880. As the nearest station where heavy repair could be completed was Toowoomba, a decision was made to open such a facility in Roma in 1881. A refreshment room was added in 1887 & an elevated coal stage in 1927.
Today it has a weekly passenger service to either Brisbane (State capital) or Charleville plus stations in between. The station is not manned & you need to book your journey by phoning 132232 or attend an accredited travel agent.
