"Joseph John Goldston formerly owned the land on which most of the town of Goldston is built, including all the churches, the depot, all the businesses, and most of the dwellings. He donated the land the depot was built on and also the land on which the Methodist Church was built, as well as the old Parsonage. He was largely responsible for having the depot and the post office established here; hence the town was named in his honor." ~ George E. Rives
