The Watonga Republican was begun by T.B. Ferguson in 1892. He was publisher of the paper until his death in 1921, after which his wife continued as publisher until 1930. (Ferguson was the Oklahoma Territorial Governor from 1901 to 1906).
The paper is currently published once a week on Wednesday and has a circulation of 3350. The paper also maintains a full-service online edition. The paper covers local news, sports, business, jobs,and community events.
