Named for Henry Caruthers Roman Nose (1856-1917), a chief of the southern Cheyenne, this 600 acres was his federal allotment. This is a canyon with bluffs overlooking ancient mesas. The Civilian Conservation Corps worked on this park from September 1935 until the park was opened on May 16, 1937.

The park is located on rolling hills, with gypsum bluffs. Throughout the park, the stonework of the CCC can be seen, providing stairways from one level to another. The first structure created was the stone Picnic Shelter, located near three natural springs, which is still in use today.

The park has an 18-hole golf course, and numerous picnic areas. There are two swimming pools, and seven campgrounds. Facilities are available for 48 RV sites, tent camping, five equestrian campsites, and you can even rent a teepee. There are ten rental cottages in the park avalable by the day or week. The two lakes provide excellent fishing, and canoes, paddle boats and mountain bikes can be rented. The park is a hiker's dream with trails throughout the rolling land.

The lodge has 20 guest room, two meeting rooms and conference facilities. Restaurants are onsite. The park is a beautiful combination of history, natural beauty and up-to-date facilities for the visitor, recreation enthusiast, and nature lover.
