This dam allowed the creation of Quaker Lake. In the 1968 the dam was built along Quaker Run, and created a lake about 40 feet deep and 268 acres wide. The lake is used for recreation in Allegany State Park.

The water flows from the dam into the Allegheny River Reservoir.
