World War Two in Europe came to a close in the first days of May 1945. For over six long years, the people of western Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) had lived under Nazi tyranny. Now, two corps of General George S. Patton, Jr.'s Third U.S. Army were in the Sudetenland (visit link) region along the old 1937 German-Czechoslovak border. Patton was anxious to continue advancing eastward. But he was denied by General Omar N. Bradley and D. Eisenhower.
The military situation was changing rapidly in central Europe. The co-ordination between the Western Allies and Soviet armies very difficult. Allies forces advanced up to a demarcation line that ran south-easterly from Karlovy Vary through Plzen to Ceske Budejovice.

Dobrany is a small town in the Plzen Region of the Czech Republic. So, this town was liberated by soldiers of Patton's corps.

This reenactment was one from events from the Liberation festival (visit link) . The festival was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of WW2 in west Bohemia.

The reconstruction showed several dozens of performers with a personal armaments and equipments and also a lot of historical transport and armoured vehicles..
