Témoin fidèle de l'activité des Forges, voici vraisemblablement une des toutes premières cheminées élevées sur le site au 18ième siècle. Malgré quelques modifications, on peut encore remarquer les épaisses plaques de fonte dont l'un des piliers est formé. Il correspond en tous points aux descriptions relevées dans les documents d'époque.
Le foyer situé à la base de la cheminée est couramment appelé "renardière". On y chauffe et affine à la fois le métal.
À l'origine, on trouvait aux Forges quatre cheminées semblables à celle-ci: deux à la forge basse et deux à la forge haute.
The stack of the lower forge
Witness to the ironworks' operations, this stack was one of the first to be build on the site in the eighteenth century. Although it was altered over the years, the stack, of which one of the pillars is made of thick coast plates, is fully compatible with the original spécifications.
The hearth located at the base was commonly called a finery hearth since the metal was both refined and heated there.
The Forges originally had four stacks like this one: two at the lower forge and two at the upper forge.
