Go into the cemetery towards the map of the cemetery and facing the map look towards your right for a 2-3 foot tall white marker for Hardy G Hooker, who actually made the finest bale of cotton. He is buried in this cemetery. It has been reported that the bale was bought by the Liverpool Cotton Exchange and displayed in England for one season. The New York Cotton Exchange then bought and returned the bale to the US. It is now on display in New York, bagged in silk and linen, bound with sterling silver ties, and enclosed in glass.
