When in 1766 the estate Westerbeeksloot came into the hands of Nicholas Heloma from the Frisian Heerenveen left it in 1770 to the Westerbeek Sloot build a pub.
When the Benevolent Society in 1818 began with the establishment of a pilot colony at this place the pub was converted into a guest house with eight rooms, where guests of the Society could stay. After the renovation, which was also housed the director of the colony at the inn took place in 1821. The guest house was rented to postmaster Schuttelaar from Steenwijk, provided four rooms would remain available to the Permanent Commission (= Executive Board) of the Charity Society.
