The plaque reads:
Kenyon Township
Hand-hewn cedar logs were the standard building material in Kenyon Township from the beginning of European settlement in the late 18th century until the widespread availability of sawn lumber a century later. Log-building techniques introduced by Loyalist pioneers, combined with an abundant supply of easily worked and durable eastern white cedars, led to the construction of hundreds of log houses and barns, many which remain standing and in use today.
1798-1998
This plaque is in front of a private hand-hewn log dwelling. As you drive round the backroads, there is still evidence of this technique in log buildings.
