The griffin, a mythical beast with the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle, is said to be a benevolent guardian of gold and other treasures. Fittingly, a pair of them guards the entrance gate of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. These griffins also have some snake-like features.
