"Lt. Craig Lazarro has been managing the department, which is the only city service offered. The department currently has two reserve and three part-time officers. There has been no reduction in police coverage.
"The city has been battling a budget deficit that nearly caused the police department to be dismantled earlier this year. But in April, residents passed a property tax hike that allows the city to double the rate to 50 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The additional income will help pay for police protection and code enforcement." ~ St. Louis Today
