The Grand Rapids Trust eleven-story tower (later known as Michigan National), a tall Art Deco structure entirely covered in terra cotta tile, was built in 1926.

The base, shaft and crown are defined by differing window shapes and recessed decorative motifs. Some of those are abstracted “American” motifs, especially the sculpture of an Indian on the corner of the building.
