Elmer Thomas Lake sits on the border of Fort Sill and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The dam is on the east side leading into Medicine Park, OK. The Little Medicine Creek and its tributaries flow into the lake from the west side and continue west into the Medicine Creek in Medicine Park. The dam is a concrete gravity dam with a spillway attached to the front. It can be reached from either side, but most easily from State Hwy 49 in Medicine Park.
Elmer Thomas lake is used a fishing and recreational area. Small boats with trolling motors are allowed. There is a water park, RV park, cabins, tent sites, and an archery range on the Fort Sill side.
