Located in front of two-story building on the sidewalk which is currently home to Cyclesport on the first floor is a historical marker on the Main Street side which reads:
FIRST SITE IN CHICOFLOOD AND FIRE
THE SALVATION ARMY
OCT. 16, 1888
IN SERVICE TO GOD
AND MAN
I tried to locate any historical info on this site and if the current building is from 1888 but found nothing. This marker is easy to miss if not paying attention. This was a nice surprise to discover in downtown Chico.
