Behem stavovského povstání stáli na strane císare Ferdinanda II., za svou vernost byl roku 1627 povýšeni do panského stavu a získali Zlín, Otrokovice a Zborovice.

R. 1762 Alois Arnošt hrabe Podstatský z Prusinovic obdržel od císarovny Marie Terezie povolení sloucení jména s vymrelým matciným rodem Liechtenstein. Puvodní rod hrabat Podstatských sv. pánu z Prusinovic se zacal nazývat rod Podstatský–Lichtenstein. Alois Arnošt zdedil také rozsáhlý majetek po vymrelých Lichtensteinech, predevším zámek a panství Telc, za podmínky, že jméno a erb Lichtenštejnu-Kastelkornu a Podstatských z Prusinovic sloucí jako Podstatský-Lichtenštejn.
