This NGS Vertical Control disk is located on narrow N-S limestone rock outcropping NW of a red brick ranch house on the E side of MD Rt 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) - about .1 mi N of the entrance to the Washington County Agricultural Education Center.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1979 9.15 MI SOUTH FROM HAGERSTOWN. 0.15 MILE EAST ALONG WASHINGTON STREET FROM THE COURTHOUSE IN HAGERSTOWN, THENCE 9 MILES SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 65 TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT, AND 4.4 MILES NORTHWEST OF KEEDYSVILLE, MARK IS SET AT THE CROSSING OF A HIGH VOLTAGE POWER LINE, 75 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF A HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY OF C.J. GROVES, 67 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 33 FEET EAST OF POWER POLE NUMBER 283.5, 29 FEET EAST OF A FENCE CORNER, AND 2 FEET NORTH OF THE FENCE LINE RUNNING EAST AND WEST. THE MARK IS 29 FT E FROM A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS 1 FT ABOVE HIGHWAY.
