Friends Burial Ground is a shaded area enclosed partially by a four foot high brick tall and partially by a modern wrought iron fence. Although interments probably began in the late 17th century, graves were not marked until 1324. The grave markers are small white stones...
The Friends Burial Ground contains the Salem Oak Tree. The ground was also the site of two early meeting houses - a log structure from the seventeenth century and a larger brick structure from the eighteenth century. Both structures were abandoned when the present Hicksite Meeting House at 200 East Broadway was constructed in 1772.
– National Register Nomination
The burial ground is well-maintained by the Society of Friends.
