This monument stone is located at the place in front of the church of Hégenheim. It commemorates the sister city Morcenx, in the southwest of France.

Morcenx and Hégenheim became sister cities in 1980, but the relatioship is much older: many of the citizens of Hégenheim were evacuated to Morcenx in World War II.

The inscription on the monument commemorates the renaming of this place to "Square de Morcenx" in 1982, and the 60th anniversary of the evacuation in 1999.
