The coordinates listed are at the "I Heart (Love) Aruba" sign in the heart (pun intended) of downtown Aruba. A short distance from the incoming tourists via cruise ships and the airport.
We were lucky enough to visit this wonderful island and enjoy it's many exciting and fun filled things to do. The people were all very nice and we had a great time. We truly do love Aruba as I imagine most people do that visit it. We met a couple that have been vacationing there for about 15 years, they come twice a year and look forward to each visit.
The island residents almost all speak 3 to 4+ different languages from English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamento (the local language) and can fluently flow from one to another. We were talking to some young ladies and they said that if they were in one language and someone nearby could understand or were listening to their conversation, they would just switch to another language and keep talking without missing a beat.
They do have their own currency but take US dollars as well since this seems to be their biggest tourist group.
The weather was beautiful and being out of the hurricane path, so they do not worry about this at all. They are part of the ABC islands: Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.
We were surprised to see this but a lot of the island is desert like. "Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape." (Wikipedia)
It was at one time the largest supplier of Aloe (cactus plant), and had an oil refinery that has since closed. They also had a gold rush here a few years back.
The island has a quick drop-off on the edges of their sandy beaches, so there are several great dive spots that go from shallow to deep in a hurry. They have boats, planes and more for great scuba diving locations.
Lots of great things to do, places to visit or shop at, things to eat and experiences on this happy island.
You can scuba, snorkel, mountain bike or climb, shop, sight see, drive a 2, 3 or 4 wheel drive vehicle, skydive and so much more.
