These bollards represent the Rippleside Swimming Club which was based at the nearby Corio Bathing Establishment. It was one of the earliest bathing enclosures on the bay.

On these bollards it is shown that Victorians at the time used shorts over their costumes, but that didn't quite hide the anatomy as intended.
Empty fuel containers were often used as flotation aids during swimming lessons.
These sculpted bollards are part of the iconic colourful bollards along the Geelong waterfront. These wooden characters depict the fascinating history and development of Geelong. They were created between 1994 and 1999 for the Geelong City Council by Jan Mitchell (1940-2008), who was assisted by carver Pieter Roos and artist John Starr.
