Raddenbury was the second curator of the Geelong Botanical Gardens in 1872, and was known for the magnificent ferneries he created.
Raddenbury can be seen wearing a stem of Daphne, which is a plant he introduced to Australia. The ladies at the time loved their pressed flower collections, and so a botanical garden curator was bound to be very popular.
These sculpted bollards are part of the iconic colourful bollards along the Geelong waterfront. These wooden characters depict the fascinating history and development of Geelong. They were created between 1994 and 1999 for the Geelong City Council by Jan Mitchell (1940-2008), who was assisted by carver Pieter Roos and artist John Starr.
