Located in the back part of Mid Valley Title and Escrow Company is a dedicated bench with a small plaque on the seat that reads:

Louis Gage Chrysler Jr.

I was able to locate an obituary here that reads:

Wrap Text around ImageLouis Gage Chrysler Jr. was born on April 3, 1922 in Walcott, Iowa and died on December 24, 2009 in Chico, California.

He is survived by a wife, Jean Ann of 65 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chris Marx; a son, Gage Chrysler and his wife, Christie; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Butch Davidson, and his nine grandchildren.

He served with patriotism and honor as a naval officer, overseas in World War II and Korea. He was a graduate of the US Naval Academy; Class of Œ45, in Civil Engineering and professionally a contractor and advisor. Louis Chrysler has worn many hats, and his list of involvements read like a compilation of all the service-oriented organizations in Chico and California. While President of Modern Building Co., he also served as Trustee and President of Chico Unified School District, Board of Education, President of Chico Rotary Club and was active in the Young Men's Christian Association. Louis Chrysler was an elder in the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, on the Enloe Hospital Advisory Board and Chairman of the Foundation, Chico State College Association in the Construction Management department as an Advisor, and on the Butte County grand jury. Louis Chrysler was a recipient of the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award and the J. "Pat" Laffin Award and always donated time and talents to the chamber and other community activities, in addition to one's regular work and home routines by its very nature necessitates what at times amounts to following a virtual day and night work schedule. He has been active on the Board of Governors for the California Contractors' Council, chairman of the board for Mid-Valley Title Co., Mount Shasta Title and Escrow Co., the Butte County Board of Appeals, and he was a founding member of Butte Creek Country Club and President. Louis Chrysler's efforts were accomplished with a quiet, steady, low key, unselfish but always positive performance. He loved to shoot a good game of golf and was a founding member of the Enloe Golf Tournament. He enjoyed sailing and was a wood carving enthusiast. He was an asset to family and community and will be missed.

The family requests no flowers and contributions can be made to the Enloe Foundation or Chico Rotary Foundation. There will be a private family service.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Butte Creek Country Club.
