This bridge over Tuque Creek was built by American Bridge Company for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad in 1926.
The Katy (MKT) Railroad discontinued use of this line when severe flooding removed miles of track and the cost of repair was prohibitive. The railroad ceased operation on this line in 1986.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources acquired the corridor and made it the largest rails-to-trails state park in the nation.
It opened to pedestrian and bicycle use in 1990.
