It is 250 feet high, 1,1,00 feet wide at the base. It has houseboats at the marina. In 2005, Fuse gates were added on top of the spillway. These are intended to breakaway under pressure, but can provide as mush as 30 percent increase in storage. Lake Tulare was once the largest freshwater lake west of the Rockies. It collects watershed from the Kaweah River basin and is 6 - 8 miles in length.
