OFFICES OF THE COUNTY CLERK AND SURROGATE, Market St. N. of the Courthouse, are a high, one-story stucco building adorned with Corinthian columns and pilasters, built in 1851. - New Jersey: A Guide To Its Present and Past, 1939, Salem section, pg. 393
The County Clerk and Surrogate moved to the new courthouse in 1968. The building is now used as a County office building, with offices for health department and other human service agencies. The building was renovated in 1987 and is very in good condition.
