This sculpture of salvaged steel pipe represents an underground river of water surfacing three times before spilling into the nearby Arizona canal.The artist's intent is to represent the importance of water in the desert and the contribution of under ground water sources. The project reaches a height of 24 feet and is composed of salvaged industrial pipe. The sculpture was commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art in 2014 and sits on land owned by the Salt River Project. Salt River Project is a public utility providing water and power to the Phoenix metropolitan area. The total installation includes three nearby benches made of the same pipe material. The artist is Chris Fennel, born in 1965.
