St Mary's Catholic Church was originally built in the early 1860s at the south end of Smythesdale township and later moved to the block of land on the north side of the Court House. It was demolished in the early 1970s and replaced by the old weatherboard and corrugated iron roofed Catholic Church building from Haddon, which has been renovated and is the only remaining church in Smythesdale.
