Within her lifetime she saw automobiles replace horses and wagons as the common personal conveyance, tractors and other large farm equipment replacing the mule and plow, and computers and satellite communication become far more prevalent than the personal written letter. The year that she died was the year that the first spacecraft landed on an asteroid; and terrorists hijacked jets to fly into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and into the Pentagon.
