The 1943 novel "The Man who Walked through Walls" or "Le Passe-muraille" is a French literature classic written by novelist Marcel Aymé (1902-1967).
In it, 42-year-old fictional character Monsieur Dutilleul has the ability to walk through walls. Ultimately he gets stuck permanently in a wall. The short story was translated to English in 2012.
This sculpture of the character is in Place Marcel Aymé in Montmartre. It was created by sculptor Jean Marais (1913-1998) in 1989 as a tribute to Marcel Aymé.
