Although the foundation stone was laid in 1914 construction was delayed by the First World War & the church wasn't completed until 1917. The church celebrated its 100th year last year with a celebration mass & luncheon. Its oldest parishioner Lottie Dinsdale, who was present at the laying of the foundation stone, was to attend but passed away in June.
